In 1993, Mary Carolyn Miracle, while living on the historic Miracle Farm, met with some close friends and townsfolk to found the Ovilla Historical Society. These original founding members included Betty Watson, Jerry D. West, and Clydene Harris. They held regular meetings at both the historic Ovilla Methodist Church and Miracle Farm.

Working diligently to capture as many stories from the old-timers and their relatives as possible, they preserved these treasured interviews, dialogues, and contributions. With Carolyn Miracle at the helm as President and Editor, she compiled this information into the Ovilla Texas History Book, which was published in hardcover in 1996. The original "Every Tuesday Crew" worked tirelessly alongside her for many hours at Miracle Farm and deserve recognition for their efforts. These members were Clydene Harris, Sherry Waddle, Phoebe Davis, and Betty Watson.

After the book's release, the society continued until around 2001. Fast forward to 2018: while visiting my great-aunt Carolyn, we started talking about family and local history, as we often did. Now elderly and wheelchair-bound, she expressed her desire for me to carry on the organization, re-release the book in print, and digitize it. She gave me access to all the old saved files, images, and artifacts.

Mary Carolyn Miracle—may her memory be a blessing—passed away on the 10th of September, 2023.

After several years of slowly cataloging the information as time allowed, my wife and I refounded the Ovilla Texas Historical Society in 2026, hoping to continue Carolyn's and the original crew's legacy while inspiring and educating the future generations of our town.

Both my wife and I were born and raised in Ovilla, TX and still reside here decades later. I was blessed to be raised on a 5 acre plot that was apart of the large Miracle Farm as a whole. With unfettered access to the rolling landscape, tree’d forests, and running creeks, I learned to appreciate the local natural world.
